2nd 100 Days of Scouting: Day 39

Electronics Merit Badge

Eighty glorious degrees out!

And camping is in the air.  Troop heads out today on a Pioneering campout.

We are headed to a rustic area of the local National Forest, with just fire rings to keep us company.  Not even a picnic table to set down at.

Perfect.

Today I:
  • Packed for the camping trip.
  • Fixed a blown-out tire...about 5 miles from the campsite.  The Scouts in my van were great help, too.
  • Answered parent questions that reflect the level of our Scout-led efforts:  "Where exactly are you going?", "What time do we pick them up on Sunday?"  It says a lot that they were letting their Scout go even though they didn't have all the facts.

The weather will be more unpleasant as the weekend goes on, to below freezing on Sunday morning.  I wonder if we are really prepared?  Would you be?
